One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. —-Virginia Woolf
Kicked off a jammed-packed weekend at Urth Caffe. In a nut shell: Shopped on Melrose (Passed by DCMA Collective/Agenda Show building—nostalgic!), mingled with designers (There I go, talking to strangers again…), invites to private showings (Joyrich! One of my favorites.), Art in the Streets at MOCA, walks downtown (Ran into a big budget movie production!), excursion in Little Tokyo, breakfast on Main St. Seal Beach with former college professor Joe, recording studio listening to new tracks (Another reason why I never lost faith in the music industry…), hang outs with baby brother Jordy, visited favorite cousin before she moves far, far away (We only say “good-bye” to say “hello” again!), dinner with parents (They rule.), Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood for very good friend Stacy Clark’s show (You know the clothes I rock? 25% of it is probably Stacy’s…she keeps me fly! Haha.)
By the way, I’m really happy and I love my new home. I also realized home isn’t a place—it’s the people.
I’m in good company.
I attended a private “Women in Rock” event at The Grammy Museum. I felt inspired being in the presence of the speakers— five successful music business professionals. (Including my good friend Stacy Clark!)
Listening to these women tell their stories, I saw a part of myself within each one of them. Yet, there was another part of me that knew they embodied characteristics and knowledge I’d like to hone within the next few years.
When I hear people applaud my accomplishments, I am flattered. Looking back, I have experienced great joys and am fortunate to be able to contribute immensely to the industries (music, fashion, action sports, etc.) I love. However, I have always thought, and have expressed this to close friends: I feel I’ve only achieved one percent of everything I have wanted and am capable of doing.
I love what I do, and it consumes me.
If you haven’t visited The Grammy Museum, I highly suggest you grab a couple friends and go! The staff was hospitable, and the exhibits are fascinating, especially if you are a little music snob like myself. Haha.
In conjunction with John Lennon’s 70th birthday anniversary this month, there is a special exhibit dedicated to his legacy.

Living The Dream Team at CHOC Walk Disneyland
The joy about being a part of something early on is one can see the hard work pay off and flourish in front of their eyes.
That is how I felt today when, for the third year in a row, we participated in CHOC Walk at Disneyland, which benefits The Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
Once again, Hurley and LIVING T)(E DREAM were gold sponsors. In addition to providing 15,000 event shirts, they made a profound impact in helping ensure children, regardless of their family’s ability to pay, get world class medical care by helping CHOC raise a total of 1.5 million dollars.
An interesting tidbit is founder Walt Disney sat on the board at CHOC. Therefore, this charity benefit is the only one of its kind where Disneyland is willing to open up the park later than usual and let walkers utilize its premise.
2008: A mere 11 walkers

2009: Approximately 70 walkers

2010: More than 150 walkers!

The growth has been overwhelming. Thanks for the support!

LIVING THE DREAM For Blisss Magazine
Scottie is incredible and I admire his selflessness, positive energy and zest for living. When Science Records hired me I started adding people on MySpace (This was back when it was still relevant.) that were associated with the company as a way to stay in the loop with Hurley’s many entities.
A week later, I was grabbing swag for one of our bands at the employee store when I ran into Scottie in the parking lot. “Hey Scottie, we’re friends on MySpace!” I said, before realizing how weird I must have sounded. He gave a big hug and I instantly felt comfortable. Blah, Blah, Blah. Skip, skip, skip…
Today, he’s like a brother to me. He remembers our first encounter, telling me he felt like “our hearts immediately connected.” I feel the same. He is a good friend who is a connection to life. Scottie is a tie to the past, a road to the future and the key to sanity in a totally insane world.
I’m blessed to have him in my life.

Here’s a quick interview with Scottie Somers I wrote for Blisss Magazine:
Three years ago, after reaching a milestone at age 40 with cystic fibrosis, a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, former Lefty bassist (Interscope Records) Scottie Somers felt an imminent desire to help children with chronic and terminal diseases. With the backing of Bob Hurley and Roger Wyett, Hurley’s Living The Dream Foundation came into fruition. Its mission is to “make dreams come true for children with life-threatening afflictions while instilling a positive message of truly Living The Dream everyday to enrich their lives.”
What motivated you to start an organization?
It came from the super fun life that I’ve been blessed with and all the inspirational people I’ve met over the years. When I turned 40, there was no escaping the feelings of wanting to share the golden fun key with others that were inflicted with terminal diseases and give back to a life that’s been so abundant to me.
How has Hurley contributed to the growth of Living The Dream?
Hurley has been a huge help from day one to present. To get to work with great leaders like Bob Hurley and Roger Wyett is a dream come true. The gift of letting us use the Hurley )( in our logo is priceless and has opened so many doors and opportunities. Thank you, Hurley!
Living The Dream had a great year, with presence at The Hurley pro, Hurley U.S. Open and The Vans Warped Tour…
Four years ago I went to the U.S. Open and couldn’t find a Hurley sticker there; Hurley owned it this year! To see the growth of Hurley over the past 4 years has been inspirational. Their presence at the Hurley U.S. Open, Warped Tour and Hurley Pro were gigantic and well deserving—puts a huge smile on my face! To have a Living The Dream presence at all three of these pivotal events was an Honor!
Two years from now, where do you picture Living The Dream?
The picture that comes to my mind is :LTD)( will be a 501(c)3 non-profit that’s two years closer to our goal of being number one in its class of foundations helping terminal children.
Closing thoughts or comments?
I’m very thankful to Hurley, our team leaders and all the :LTD)( volunteers for helping Living The Dream reach new heights every day. We have a special group of people that we call family; I’m thankful for our :LTD)( family! The past few years have been beautiful; cheers to even better tomorrows…

I was elated after this chat. Being in the presence of intelligent individuals who strive to make a difference is a breath of fresh air. It makes up for all the dumb celebs I’ve spoken to in the past. LyKe, yOu kNoW, oN ToUr wE LiKE tO gEt SmAsHed AnD fUcK GrOuPieS!

Goal of the month?
I need to finish my painting.
I started on this 14 X 14 canvas a year ago, but haven’t gotten around to completion.
Inspired by my love for British culture—punk rock, chocolate (Yeah, they aren’t known for it, but I love Cadbury!) and travel.
I get a surprise every time I paint: Did I think the Union Jack would’ve aligned inside the optical illusion as well as it did? Nope.
Trial and error. Except this time there was no error!
Yours Truly Featured on VANS.com
I attended VANS Downtown Showdown at Paramount Studios last night. Former (and very awesome) boss Nikki mentioned it was her favorite annual VANS event, and I see why!
The setting was unreal. It looked like thousands of skater kids from sunny California took over the streets of New York.
As always, VANS knows how to throw a party! You can always find the very hospitable Steve Van Doren BBQing and greeting guests. My favorite part was catering from In-and-Out Burger as well as the insane obstacle courses.
Anyway, my ghetto blaster and I made it onto www.VANS.com.
In case you haven’t figured it out, I am a sucker for gaudy, ridiculous jewelry!

Believe it or not, I never found Zac Efron attractive.
Then I had the opportunity to interview him at The Ritz in Marina Del Rey. Wow, did my opinion change! He’s just so charming and personable. I get it now!
(This picture was taken the day of my assignment.)

Enjoy reading my Zac story:
I also conducted interviews with actress Amanda Crew who plays his love interest in Charlie St. Cloud as well as director Burr Steers and book author Ben Sherwood. You can Google those for further reads!

A mixture between work and play. Although, sometimes the lines are blurred.
This is one of my favorite vlogs because it’s diverse, contains lots of good memories and rad friends.
Music from Good Charlotte, Vampire Weekend, Cee Lo Green and Muse.
